Cheers! Glasses of bubbly to be served at event

Organisers of Alnwick Food Festival have revealed a sparkling addition to this year's event '“ with a prosecco bar being installed during the weekend-long culinary celebration.

The festival takes place in the town on Saturday, September 17, and Sunday, September 18, and the prosecco bar will be held in the Northumberland Hall, alongside the chef demonstrations.

Festival manager, Dawn Watts, said: “We are confident that the prosecco bar will prove very popular. Everybody likes a glass of bubbly from time to time. And it seemed to us that the food festival is a very good time.”

The Prosecco Superiore is being provided by event sponsors, Aldi. There will also be non-alcoholic sparkling drink.

Prosecco won’t be the only drink on the menu over the weekend, as The Bari Tea Brewery in Narrowgate will be hosting its fifth mini tea festival.

Caroline Stewart, of Bari Tea, said: “We are proud to support the Alnwick Food Festival through our mini tea festival.

“It’s an opportunity to introduce a few additional and interesting teas to our established range of 35 teas. We’ll also be serving tea-infused cakes and scones.”

The prosecco bar will be open from 10am to 4pm on both days. The Bari Tea Brewery mini festival will run from 10am to 4pm on the Saturday and 11am to 4pm on the Sunday.

The Alnwick Beer Festival, organised by Alnwick and District Round Table, will run alongside the food festival, which will feature a variety of stalls in the Market Place and a range of family entertainment.
