Charity game raises £1,026

Wooler and Lowick football teams came together on Sunday to contest a charity fundraising game in memory of Gillian Rae at Wooler Football Club with all proceeds going to Hospice Care,North Northumberland.

Raffle tickets were sold pitchside on the day and throughout the week at Farm to Freeze in their Wooler and Lowick branches and also at Cornhill Village Shop.

A four ball gift voucher for the Dalmahoy Golf Course kindly donated by Scottish Fuels was auctioned off afterwards in the Angel Inn,Wooler and added to the match collection the fantastic sum of £1026 was raised on the day.

Thanks to everyone who donated prizes and gave so generously and to all the lads,young and old who took part on the day.

The match finished 4-4 in a sporting fixture played in the very best spirit of the game.

Bruce Crombie’s Wooler Select had the best of the early exchanges but Alan Fairbairn’s huge 28-man squad gradually wore down their tiring opponents to take a share of the spoils.

Scorers for Wooler were Crombie (2),Sharp and Hogg and the Lowick goals came from Bloomfield (2),N Hogg and Young.
