Charities benefit from music festival

At a special lunch provided at Doxford Hall Hotel, General Manager Mark Booth presented HospiceCare North Northumberland and The Northumbrian Ranters with a cheque for £1,000 each. The £2,000 was raised from a proportion of the ticket sales following a very successful 2015 Northumberland Music Festival.

Over the last five years, the Northumberland Music Festival has been committed to supporting local charities, which have now benefitted to the tune of £13,000, which has been raised through ticket sales.

Organiser Barbara Huddart said: “It is a great delight to be able to present HospiceCare North Northumberland and The Northumbrian Ranters with these cheques. HospiceCare work ceaselessly to provide our local community with the support and care needed at very difficult times, and the Ranters have performed at and supported the Music Festival since it was first launched. Combining a passion for music and a love of Northumberland, it is very rewarding to be able to couple this with the offer of support to the local community, and those working endlessly to help people in need.”

Julie Frost, Marketing PR and Corporate Co-ordinator of HospiceCare North Northumberland, said: “We are tremendously grateful for this extremely generous donation from the Northumberland Music Festival.

“This generous gift will help us to contribute toward the delivery of 50 hours of our Hospice at Home services to local people living with a life-limiting condition in North Northumberland.”
