Charities benefit from dip

The Alnmouth New Year's Day Dip raised more than £1,200 for two charities.

Event organisers and sponsors, Puffin Stores/Alnmouth Post Office, raised £800 towards necessary repairs to the village hall.

Last week, Puffin Stores owner Nick Mattlock and colleague Robin Winder presented a cheque to John Hall, chairman of the Hindmarsh Hall Committee.

Meanwhile, Alnmouth Boat Club member David Denton raised a further £400 to be donated to Amble RNLI.

Mr Mattlock said: “The support we have got from those who took part, those who came to give us all their encouragement on the day and those who just donated to the charities is something that makes me feel very proud and very humble.”
