As well as generous living space and a double bedroom on the ground floor, stairs lead up to a master bedroom which has awe-inspiring views over to the Farne Islands.

Bamburgh Castle has belonged to the Armstrong family since the 19th century and is open to the public throughout the year.

It has been used as a film and television location, featuring in films such as Ivanhoe (1982), El Cid (1961), Mary, Queen of Scots (1971), Elizabeth (1998) and both the 1971 and 2015 adaptations of Macbeth.

The Library House is offered through Savills at a rent of £625 per calendar month.

Annabel Williamson, from Savills’ Wooler office, said: “Bamburgh Castle is a very special place and you can feel the sense of history as soon as you set foot in its grounds. It has been home to the Armstrong family since 1845. They take their role as custodians of this iconic building very seriously and it has been carefully maintainted over hundreds of years.”
