In a video which was captured during a recent event at Newcastle’s Purdu social spot, the reality TV personality appears to say: “For 15 hundred quid cash I’m going to come to Alnwick.”

It comes as the owners of the town’s two late-night venues, I Won’t Tell and Penny Black – now known as Mailhouse – have come up with a plan to revitalise the evening drinking scene.

Mark Jones, of I Won’t Tell, said: “Mailhouse is a special concept. After months of discussions between the two late-night venues in Alnwick, the two owners have decided that the best thing for the town’s nightlife is to join forces and to have everyone partying under one roof, creating a busy venue every weekend with a vibrant atmosphere.

“Mailhouse hopes to showcase the best things both teams have to offer in one jumping venue, allowing I Won’t Tell to focus on one-off big name DJs and events, and could be open on really busy occasions like Boxing Day and Hallowe’en.”

Explaining the rationale behind the concept, Mark, who also has The Dirty Bottles, Taproom and Smokehouse, on Narrowgate, said: “Alnwick seems a little bit quiet in terms of drinking. What was happening was that Penny Black was half-full and I Won’t Tell was half-full, so the two venues got talking and decided what was best for Alnwick was creating a venue that would be full at the weekend. It is new, so I am sure we will be tweaking things over the coming weeks and months.”

The concept launched last Saturday, to great success. Mark said: “Mailhouse was rammed; just what we are aiming to achieve, and it will be open late on Fridays and Saturdays.”
