The British Transport Police has released this CCTV image.

Last month, the Gazette reported that a man travelling with three children had been seen by another passenger assaulting one of the youngsters, a boy aged two or three. The child was hit three times and kicked in the head and chest. The man and the children got off the train at Alnmouth station.

The incident happened on Sunday, February 12, on the 4pm service, just before the Virgin East Coast train departed Edinburgh Waverley station for Peterborough.

And today, British Transport Police has released a CCTV image of a man who is believed may have information about the incident.

The male is described as white, around 5ft 10ins, in his late 30s and of a large build. He has short black spiked hair and was wearing glasses, a black and white polo shirt, dark coloured jacket, a thick metal chain around his neck, dark grey jeans and white trainers. He has a tattoo on his right arm and has a North East English accent.
