Catch classic cars on Northumberland Coast and Castles route

The vehicles are taking part in the eighth Flying Scotsman Vintage Car Rally, a three-day, 700-mile road trip.

They started this morning at Belvoir Castle, Leicestershire, and are heading for an overnight stop in south Northumberland tonight, via the Humber Bridge, the East Riding of Yorkshire and Castle Howard.

Tomorrow, they follow Hadrian’s Wall and pick up the Northumberland coast road up to Horncliffe, in north Northumberland, where they will cross the River Tweed over the Union Chain Bridge to Fishwick, Berwickshire, Scotland, before a pit stop at Paxton House in the Borders.

They will be arriving at Paxton House between approximately 12.30pm and 3pm and members of the public are invited to see them.

On Sunday, they complete their journey at the Gleneagles Hotel.

Fred Gallagher, rally director, said: “Passing through Northumberland and the Scottish Borders is always a highlight of the event. Each year, we seem to head further north as entrants are so captivated by the stunning scenery and warm welcome they receive from locals.”
