Police are appealing for information after receiving a report of a cat being shot in Alnwick.

It happened between 6pm on Wednesday, November 11, and 8am on Thursday, November 12, when a grey Tomcat returned home in Chapel Lands with puncture wounds believed to have been caused by an air pellet.

Inquiries into the incident are ongoing and anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101, quoting reference 0723 13/11/15, or call the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.

In the summer, the Gazette reported that a cat had to have its leg amputated after being shot at Alnwick Moor.
