A north Northumberland woman’s work has been selected as part of an international project based around a bomb attack in a literary neighbourhood in Iraq.
On March 5, 2007, a car bomb exploded on al-Mutanabbi Street in Baghdad, the heart and soul of the literary community.
More than 30 people were killed and more than 100 were wounded. Book artists were invited to create work that reflected this attack and so the al-Mutanabbi Street Starts Here Coalition was born.
Anna Corbett, who lives near Alnwick, was selected to take part and there will be a brief opportunity to view her contribution at The Congregational Gallery in Rothbury this weekend before it is sent away to join a touring collection.
Using the title Fragments of Memory and Desire, Anna requested that people send responses to it and she has created three handmade books of the results.
