Capture the best side to win a canvas print

A special competition is being held by an Alnwick business to mark the first National Photography Month.

PD Quick on Bondgate Within, in association with Philldor Photography, is hosting the event to celebrate the trade.

National Photography Month is the first celebration of its kind in the UK and has been launched to highlight the importance that photography plays in our personal histories.

Its aim is to encourage the nation both to get more involved in photography, and to explore new ways to capture and keep life’s most important moments.

To show their commitment to the art, Doreen Ginger and husband Phill, who run the Alnwick businesses, want to invite people to submit the pictures they feel best represent Alnwick and district.

The images can be already printed, on film or digital or even on a mobile phone.

And they can be from anywhere within the old district area encompassing Amble, Warkworth, Rothbury and beyond.

Pictures can be of anything that you think sums up the area, be it an event, building, person or animal.

There is a competition for adults as well as one for children with two age groups.

For over 18s the winning photograph will be printed on to high-quality box canvas worth £65.

And two runners-up will win prizes of £10 photo processing vouchers which can be used for either printing enlargements of their choice or any of the other processes offered at the photography shop.

For youngsters a different prize is on offer.

There will be a first prize of a home printer photo canvas kit for the best under-11’s picture and 11 to 18 years’ section. And £5 photo processing vouchers will be given as runner-up prizes.

The competition is being run throughout the month with entries to be submitted by June 30.

Images can be entered at the shop or sent to 61 Bondgate Within,. Alnwick, Northumberland, NE66 1HZ. Etnries will be judged by Doreen and Phill and all decisions are final.
