A BOOK signing in Rothbury has been hailed a huge success.

Tomlinson’s Café and Bunkhouse hosted an event for members of the public to have their copies of Walks Around Rothbury and Coquetdale signed by author Kenneth Bunn.

For years Kenneth has been an accomplished walk leader, taking groups around the North East and documenting the routes that he has followed and the points of interest along the way. Now for the first time a collection of his walks has appeared under the Trailguides banner for a wider audience to both walk and appreciate.

The book is part of the Trailguides’ series Walking North East.

Jackie Sewell, owner of Tomlinson’s said: “We were very happy to host the signing of Kenneth’s new book which received a very warm response from both locals and visitors alike.

“Books like this which generate both an interest in and visitors to Rothbury and the Coquet Valley help promote one of the most beautiful areas, not just in Northumberland, but in the whole country.’

Lyn Shevels of Trailguides Publications said: “When Jackie agreed to hold the launch at Tomlinson’s we were hoping for a good response from the public but we were very pleasantly surprised by the popularity of the café and this carried over into a genuine enthusiasm for the book.

“This has more than reinforced our opinion on making walking guides local and relevant to the area that they cover. From our point of view, Tomlinson’s was also the perfect location to showcase the book, the facilities, the staff and the customers gave the whole event a lovely warm atmosphere.”
