Rothbury Family Butchers added to its ever-growing awards collection last weekend with five prizes at The Dalziel Butchers show in Hebburn.

Butchers from all over the North East and beyond attended the trade show and had a chance to test themselves against their peers in the product evaluation competition.

Rothbury Family Butchers entered five products and came away with two golds, two silvers and a bronze for their pies and sausages.

Proprietor Morris Adamson said: “We are over the moon with our awards and particularly pleased with the two golds we received for our pies as it’s the first time we’ve entered pies in any competition.”

The judges scored the pork & haggis pie 98 per cent and pork & black pudding pie 97 per cent.

Morris added: “To get such high marks for our pies shows we are doing something right and is a great achievement for all the staff.”

The homemade pies, which are very popular in the shop, are prepared daily on the premises and are available all year round.
