A MEETING for businesses to discuss the economic arguments for dualling the A1 in north Northumberland has been hailed a success.
On Monday night, Conservative spokeswoman Anne-Marie Trevelyan held the event for businesses who use the A1 and how dualling it would be worth it for the future economic growth of the North East.
A few businesses turned up to discuss their views while those that were unable to make it filled in an online survey about the road’s impact.
“It was really good,” Anne-Marie said.
“We had a small but select group but I also had quite a lot of people contact me before the meeting.
“What was interesting was that there was a South East Scotland Federation of Small Businesses representative there who came down from the Scottish Borders.
“I’m very pleased with the discussion that we had and the points raised by the businesses.
“We’re asking businesses to think about the what if and rethink their logistics.
“The results we have had from the survey so far are very encouraging.”
Another meeting is due to be held in Berwick for businesses further north.
