A new business venture, offering weddings in renovated farm buildings in north Northumberland, is holding an open day later in January.
An open day to which all are welcome will take place on Sunday, January 18, from 11am to 5pm, for Doxford Barn Weddings, at Doxford Farm, near Chathill.
This wedding venue is set in a private 550-acre country estate which includes beautifully restored and licensed 18th-century Northumbrian farm buildings, an oak barn to accommodate up to 250 guests, courtyard, lawns and even a lake complete with swans.
Doxford Barn Weddings has been set up by 24-year-old businessman Richard Shell and is due to launch officially in July 2015, although a number of couples have already provisionally booked.
It promises to host weddings which are 100 per cent tailored to each individual couple’s unique needs.
He said: “I believe there’s a need for a new, refreshing wedding venue like this in the area. It’s no surprise that rural Northumberland is now one of the most popular areas of the UK for people to get married because it’s a beautiful place and relatively easy to reach.”
