Two points mean victory

THE Northumberland sheep dog league hosted a nursery challenge trial against the Northern Sheepdog Association at Whitfield on Sunday.

Cameron Dixon from Coldingham judged the two teams of 10 dogs working Swaledale hoggs that needed firm control over a testing flat course.

Results: 1 Paul Turnbul, from Rothbury, with Roy, 93/100 points; 2 Tony Iley, Longframlington, with Strike, 89; 3 Tony Iley with Scout, 87; 4 John Edgar, Consett, with Joy, 84; 5 Bevis Jordan, Whitfield, with Pearl 83; 6 Alec Baines, Stainmore, with Tim, 83; 7 Brian Bell, Hamsterley, with Fly, 82; 8 John Brunton, Marske, with Moe, 79.

The Northumberland team had a total of 727 points against the Northern team of 725 points.
