Sheep dog trials results round-up

On Saturday, the Northumberland Sheep Dog Trials League held a nursery trial at Debdon Farm, Rothbury.

Bill Elliot, from Yetholm, judged 15 nursery and one new handler dogs working good Blackface sheep over a challenging hillside course.

Results: 1 Colin Balmbro, from Wooler, with Chip, 84/100 points; 2 Bevis Jordan, Whitfield, Bear, 82; 3 David Henderson, Allendale, Burndale Gwen, 81; 4 David Henderson, Burndale Dan, 78; 5 Chris Tait, Wooler, Reef, 77; 6 Dale Armstrong, Gilsland, Graylees Norma, 76.

Best novice was Dale Armstrong. Best new handler was Carl Smith, Hexham, with Jill.

On Saturday, December 6, the League held a nursery trial at Greenleidghton Farm, Corbridge.

Emma Gray, from Elsdon, judged 18 nursery and two new handler dogs working well-behaved Texel sheep over a demanding hillside course.

Results: 1 Bevis Jordan, Whitfield, Dallas, 85; 2 Colin Balmbro, Wooler, Chip, 83; 3 Bevis Jordan, Bear, 82; 4 Ben Smith, Corbridge, Jim, 79; 5 Mike Northwood, East Woodburn, Cilla, 74; 6 David Henderson, Allendale, Burndale Gwen, 74.

Best novice: Michael Stephenson, Kirkley Hall, Roy. Best new handler: Carl Smith, Hexham, Jill.

On Sunday, December 14, at Sionside Farm, Belford, the League held a nursery trial where Jim Easton, from East Ditchburn, judged 17 nursery and one new handler dogs working consistently well-behaved Suffolk sheep over a large hillside course.

Results: 1 David Henderson, Allendale, Burndale Gwen, 90; 2 Ben Smith, Corbridge, Lyn, 88; 3 Colin Balmbro, Wooler, Chip, 86; 4 Bevis Jordan, Whitfield, Bear, 85; 5 David Henderson, Burndale Dan, 84; 6 Alan Wallace, Bellingham, Scott, 83. Best novice: Jonjo Pattinson, Bardon Mill, Graylees Jean. Best new handler: Carl Smith. Hexham, Jill.
