A young woman’s dreams have been realised as her new business opens its doors.
Since she was little 18-year-old Becca Allan, from Alnwick, has wanted to become a hairdresser and run her own salon.
And now that has become a reality.
Bex Hair and Beauty Boutique, on Bailiffgate in the town, held its launch night yesterday with clients visiting from today.
Becca, a former Duchess’s Community High School pupil, has always been interested in hair and beauty and plans to build up the business.
She said: “It has been my ambition from being little.
“I started to do hairdressing at school and when I finished I went to a private hairdressing school in Newcastle to complete my training.
“I finished my course six months early because I was that eager to get it done.”
The business will see a hair salon downstairs with a beauty section opening upstairs next spring and Becca will be busy doing training courses as she wants to be to be able to do all the treatments on offer.
Local tradesmen have been used to get the premises up and running taking only three-and-a-half weeks to change it from the former Black Olive Cafe to the glamorous salon it is now.
Becca added: “I’d like to thank Marshall and Sons, Gerry Foster for the electrics and K&C Painter and decorators for all their hard work.
“And a thank-you to my mam and dad and all my family and friends that have supported me.
“I built up a clientele before I was even qualified and I’m really looking forward to getting it going and started.”
