A north Northumberland inn is having a major face-lift to bring a taste of Italy to the area.

Tim Unwin is bringing his family’s pub in Embleton back to life after it stood empty for 18 months.

The Blue Bell closed in September 2013 following the death of Tim’s father and needed extensive work to get it up and running again.

Tim’s daughter Chloe, who runs restaurants in the Northumberland and Newcastle areas, is adding the pub to her collection of Sambuca eateries.

They specialise in Italian cuisine at low prices.

Tim said that prices for pizzas and pastas at the Blue Bell would start at £4.95.

The Blue Bell has been in the Unwin family for more than 70 years.

The Grade II listed building was built in 1840 and this is the first time it will have had the Italian twist.

The pub is due to open at the end of the month.
