A NEW business which opened its doors in north Northumberland recently is expanding to cope with demand.
Equilibrium in Wooler was started just a few months ago by therapist Jean Watson and the Crossing Places initiative, and has got off to a great start.
Jean provides massage, reflexology and Kore Therapy treatments, and is now being joined on the team by Katie Hawkins.
Katie lives in Newcastle and complementary therapy is her second career, having previously been a teacher until she moved north with her husband.
She was then able to indulge her passion and train in beauty therapy at Newcastle College and more recently has studied mentoring and life coaching through Manchester University.
Katie said: ”I’m really excited at the prospect of working with Jean at Equilibrium because Glendale folk are so friendly and welcoming.
“This is a wonderful business with great potential, and the therapies that we can offer really can make a difference to people’s well-being and wholeness.
“It is all about helping people to feel good about themselves, and we’re passionate about that.”
Jean, who has lived in Wooler for six years and has realised her own dream in opening the new business, said: “It’s been great to get the new business up and running.
“We’ve been welcomed really warmly by other businesses on the High Street, some of whom are working in partnership to encourage one another’s businesses.
“Local people have been fantastic in supporting us, and it’s really humbling to hear so many saying how they are finding real benefit through the treatments we offer.
“That really is very special for me. I’m so looking forward to Katie coming on board and expanding the range of treatments we can offer.”
Katie will be offering Indian head massage, manicure, and pedicure treatments on Tuesdays.
In addition to these and massage, reflexology and Kore Therapy treatments, Equilibrium will also now be offering life coaching and mentoring, and is developing plans to take its services beyond the shop and into the community.
