After months of preparation, Northumberland’s newest wedding and function venue will open to the public tomorrow and we’ve taken a quick peak inside.
With five possible places to stage the ceremony, Doxford Barns is probably one of the most unique and special places you could tie the knot in the region.
The barn doors open tomorrow morning for a public preview before a special launch tomorrow evening.
With bookings already coming in, owner Richard Shell couldn’t have imagined how astonishing the transformation is from a dilapidated farm courtyard to a fully-functioning wedding venue.
Richard said: “It’s absolutely incredible how it looks now, If you look at some of the differences from back in April, there was absolutely nothing there.
“Now, in the past five weeks it’s gone from not looking like anything to looking like something so special, it’s incredible.
“Between 11am and 3pm, we’ll be having an open house, so everyone is invited to see what’s been achieved in the past six months.
“We’ll have three wedding and events co-ordinators on-hand to take appointments so if people want to call in tomorrow and speak to one of them, they can.
“As far as I’m aware, we’re now the biggest venue, capacity-wise, to hold a wedding in Northumberland. We’re saying 160 people but I think we can easily seat 200 people for a wedding breakfast, possibly more.”
The venue will be open tomorrow from 11am until 3pm and is located beside Doxford Farms, for directions visit their website for further details.
