Triple Paralympic gold medallist Stephen Miller is backing an event to boost local business.

Stephen and his wife Rachael are the latest high-profile business owners involved in the Start Your Business exhibition, hosted by Business Northumberland at Woodhorn Museum on April 26.

The Millers are directors of their fledgling consultancy company Smile Through Sport, which has benefited from the free support provided by the Business Northumberland initiative in the form of information, events and business mentoring.

Stephen will be speaking about his career and how he has successfully overcome adversities, inspiring local entrepreneurs and businesses to do the same.

Smile Through Sport aims to create increased awareness, opportunity and ultimately enjoyment in disability sport throughout the North East of England.

Rachael and Stephen provide a range of services based around their three key themes of inspiration, education and enjoyment which will be echoed at the Start Your Business event.

Business Northumberland offers established and start-up businesses in the county free support in reaching their full growth potential. It is a free service that provides business advice and support to anyone thinking about starting a business in Northumberland and also offers coaching to existing businesses with growth ambitions. It is jointly funded by Arch, The Northumberland Development Company, Northumberland County Council and the European Regional Development Fund.

Stephen said: “We are delighted to be speaking at the Start Your Business event and also to have been asked to be brand ambassadors for the Business Northumberland campaign.”

“It is a great initiative which has helped us massively through our business journey so far thanks to their events and mentoring service.

“We are looking forward to meeting aspiring and proven Northumbrian entrepreneurs at the event.”

The free event runs from 10am to 4pm. For fast-pass entry people can register to attend online at www.busi or speak to one of the team on 08451 444 000.
