BORDER Livestock Exchange Ltd to week ending Friday, June 10, sold 142 Prime Cattle, 44 Cows and Bulls, 787 Prime Lambs including 211 Cast Ewes and Tups, 116 Cows and Calves.
Prime Cattle sold to 330p per kilo for Aberdeen Angus X Bullocks from Bonjedward Mill, Jedburgh to Well Hung and Tender, Berwick-upon-Tweed.
Continental X Bullocks from Cairndinnis, Haddington to 315p per kilo to average £1,150 per head for a pen of 15. Homebred Bullocks and Young Bulls from Whitmuirhaugh, Kelso reached 320p and 310p per kilo respectively. Belgian Blue Cows from Bowsden Moor, Berwick-upon-Tweed set a New Cull Cow Record by selling to 290p per kilo and £1,653 per head. Cast Limousin Bulls from the same Farm also broke the Cast Bull Record by hitting the Jackpot at 230p per kilo and £1,812 per head. Other Top Cow Prices from Sharplaw, Hownam at 270p and Dairy Cows from Kelloe Mains, Duns to 230p per kilo and £963 per head.
Prime Lambs were slightly easier on the week. Best quality export Lambs from Primside, Yetholm; Eastfield of Lempitlaw, Kelso and Gainslaw Hill, Berwick-upon-Tweed sold to 510p per kilo and £107.10 per head. Medium weight Lambs from Easington Grange, Belford sold to 490p per kilo and £102.80. Texel X Lambs from Goswick Farm, Berwick-upon-Tweed sold to 490p per kilo.
Breeding Cattle continue to sell in large numbers for the time of year with buyers becoming very choosy, resulting in certain lots looking very good value for money. Simmental X Cows fourth Calvers with Charollais X Calves to £1,480. Aberdeen Angus second and third with Aberdeen Angus X Calves to £1,330.
