Northumberland County Council is throwing its support behind this year’s business awards.

New businesses are an essential part of the county’s economy and an incredibly important driver for growth.

The council, which is sponsoring this year’s Best New Business award, is calling on businesses in the county to enter the Northumberland Business Awards, which celebrate and recognise business excellence in the county.

The awards encompass 12 different categories: New Business (under two years); Social Responsibility Award; Apprentice/Trainee of the Year; Employer of the Year; Best Green Business; Exporter of the Year, Creative Industries Award; Innovation Award; Leisure Award; Large and Small Business of the Year; and Lifetime Achievement Award.

The winners will be announced at Linden Hall on Thursday, November 12.

Coun Allan Hepple, the county council’s cabinet member for economic growth, said: “Entrepreneurs setting up as first-time business and sole traders, partnerships and other enterprises looking to expand on their current success can help us all through their hard work – by boosting growth, through innovation, and by providing new local services and products.

“Northumberland County Council has a five-year strategy based on our vision to deliver prosperity in Northumberland founded on quality local jobs and connected communities.

“The ambition is to support the creation of 10,000 new jobs in the county up to 2031 and new businesses can make a massive difference to our collective success.

“We want to support and recognise new businesses and are delighted to be sponsoring this award to highlight the huge contribution that new businesses are making in Northumberland.”
