Twenty companies and apprentices will represent the wealth of apprenticeship and skills talent across the North East after being short-listed for the regional heat of the prestigious National Apprenticeship Awards and National Training Awards 2012.
And among those on the list are Northumberland County Council in the Employer of the Year category and Conor Reed, of Northumberland Fire & Rescue Service, in the Apprentice of the Year category.
The National Training Awards recognise those organisations that have delivered outstanding training programmes and the National Apprenticeship Awards celebrate the achievements of the country’s most outstanding Apprenticeship employers and their apprentices.
Both Awards will be hotly contested at a joint awards ceremony organised by the National Apprenticeship Service (NAS), which will be held at The Radisson Blu Hotel, in Durham, on Tuesday.
Sue Price, northern divisional area director for NAS, said: “These joint National Apprenticeship Awards and National Training Awards offer a fantastic platform for young people and employers in our region to share centre stage and gain the recognition they richly deserve for encouraging ambition and enterprise, creating rewarding career opportunities and helping to drive economic growth through their commitment to skills development.”
