A Rothbury butcher has picked up a host of top awards for its sausages.
Run by Morris Adamson, Rothbury Family Butchers, which is based in the village and at Heighley Gate, took eight golds at the BPEX Foodservice Pork Sausage of the Year competition.
The contest, which runs alongside British Sausage Week (November 4 to 10) celebrations, recognises and rewards the very best sausages served in pubs, restaurants, hotels and canteens across the country.
Rothbury Family Butchers won prestigious gold awards for its traditional pork; gluten-free pork; ginger and spring onion; pork, black pudding and chilli; pork, black pudding and spiced apple; and extra lean pork, mango, lime and chilli sausages .
And the Heighley Gate outfit scooped gold awards for three more – the hog roast; fennel and tomato chutney pork; and pork with damson chutney sausages.
This year, judges evaluated 230 entries across the competition’s five categories.
Tony Goodger, BPEX’s foodservice trade manager, said: “Rothbury Family Butchers has done exceptionally well to come away with eight gold awards – I’m sure they’ll be celebrating British Sausage Week in style.”
