A new wedding venue is throwing open its barn doors to allow couples to take a look at what’s on offer.

The unique venue, Doxford Barn, near Chathill, is set to hold its first event in July 2015, but wedding parties can get a glimpse of the facilities at an open day on Saturday, April 11, from 11am until 5pm, and all are welcome.

Business owner Richard Shell, 24, has converted two barns, one of which used to be a shop, to hold receptions to cater for 160 guests.

Doxford Barn Weddings offers exclusive use of the venue over three days, five wedding locations including the lakeside, complete with swans, and a tractor-and-trailer ride to transport the party, and seven on-site holiday cottages.

Mr Shell said: “We have had a lot of interest so far and bookings well into 2016, although the venue doesn’t have to be used exclusively for weddings. The location and setting is idyllic for all events.”

Other local businesses, including David Whitehead’s teams from The Plough in Alnwick and The Jolly Fisherman in Craster, will be used to provide the catering.
