Fred Murray, who farms near Wooler, has taken delivery of a custom-made Charolais bull, made from oak, to celebrate his life in farming and his love for the breed of cattle.

He commissioned the carving from Chatton craftsman Tom Fiddes and based it on the first Charolais bull he bought, Cordeman Ebenezer at the Royal Show in 1971.

He said: “This bull was a tremendous example of the breed – length, shape and quality.”
