Bubbly banger for charity

A NEW sausage is on the menu at an Alnwick butcher in aid of a national charity.

Turnbull and Sons is selling the champagne-based banger for the rest of this week with 10p per every pound of them sold being donated to ChildLine.

The sausage is the brainchild of Turnbull’s butcher, Paul Douglas.

A member of the Q Guild of Butchers, an elite organisation which represents 120 of the best butchers across the country, the team at Turnbull’s came up with the bubbly recipe to mark both ChildLine and the Guild’s 25th anniversaries.

Owner Mark Turnbull said: “We are very proud to be part of the Q Guild, and wanted to mark its silver anniversary and share the celebration with our customers.

“The sausage is delicious, a real treat – perfect served with a creamy mash and an orange marmalade!

“I think it will go down very well with our customers and help to raise a sizzling amount of money for a very worthy cause.”
