Bridge turns red for World AIDS Day
The Royal Border Bridge in Berwick is being lit up red tomorrow to mark World AIDS Day.
The Grade I-listed railway viaduct is one of the iconic buildings and landmarks across the North East to turn red to help promote awareness of the ongoing fight against the AIDS epidemic.
In 2016, 135 people in the North East were newly-diagnosed with HIV. Nationally over the same period, there were 5,164.
Most of those recently diagnosed are aged between 25 and 49.
