Bridge repairs almost complete
One of the routes into Alnwick is set to open again next week following an almost-four-month closure for bridge works.
The B6341 has been closed to all traffic since early September for the refurbishment of the Lion Bridge.
This week, Alnwick county councillor, Gordon Castle, received word from the team that the road will be open again by next Friday (December 23) with the traffic controls being removed next Thursday.
There have been some difficulties with the masonry work, meaning some finishing touches may be needed in the new year, but it is hopeful that this will not involve a road closure.
