Brewis hits a ton as Alnwick beat Cowgate

Alnwick 1sts had a six wicket home win over Cowgate 1sts in the Northumberland and Tyneside Senior League on Saturday.

Cowgate batted first and they put on a respectable 198 in just short of 50 overs, with opener Balasundaram their top scorer on 40.

Mehmood also hit 38 and Haladeen 34, whilst Andrew Scott was Alnwick’s most successful bowler, claiming 4-33 off his 10 overs.

In reply, Michael Brewis proved to be the star of the show for Alnwick, notching a century, hitting 102 off 146 balls.

Scott also hit a half century (50) as Alnwick responded with 201-4, reaching their target in the 48th over.

Alnmouth 1sts lost by five wickets when they took on Lintz 1sts at home.

Tom Vickers was run out on 74 and Charles Anderson hit 61 as Alnmouth posted a healthy 208-6 in their innings.

But the Lintz batsmen were solid throughout and they replied with 209-5, their winning runs coming in the 49th over.

Jordan Clennell top scored with 62, whilst opener Kieron Gohery contributed 49.

In the reverse fixture, Alnmouth 2nds went down by three wickets away to Lintz 2nds.

Alnmouth put on 172-7 in their 45 overs, with Lintz replying with 173-7 in the 44th over.

Alnwick 2nds went down by 77 runs when they travelled to take on Cowgate 2nds.

Cowgate batted first and made a decent score of 243-5 in their 45 overs, with Farhan Moulana their most productive batsman unbeaten on 90, whilst Vacaas Ali was unbeaten on 41.

Five Alnwick bowlers chipped in with a wicket apiece.

In reply, they saw Harry Lobb top score on 36, whilst N Richardson had 35 and Alan Straker 32, but they came up short of their target, being all out for 166.
