ALNWICK’S county councillor has said that the news reflected ‘years of sustained pressure’ by the whole community.
Town and county councillor, Gordon Castle, said the issue of the high school had been at the top of his agenda in the eight years he has represented the town on the authority.
“This is absolutely fantastic news and all credit to Michael Gove for finally doing what previous governments would not,” he said.
“This is a reflection of the years of sustained pressure brought to bear by councillors of all parties, the community and our MP.
“We should all be very proud and very pleased that our collective efforts have finally been rewarded.”
