Newton Hall is now serving up its own bespoke banger, specially created by award-winning Alnwick butcher Turnbull’s.

The Newton Banger is a traditional pork sausage hand-crafted to a closely-guarded recipe.

John Parker, general manager at the Newton by the Sea country house hotel, which specialises in weddings, private parties and corporate events, turned to Turnbull’s to help serve up a special breakfast treat.

And he says the sizzling sausage is going down great guns with hotel guests, alongside Turnbull’s home-cured bacon and traditional black pudding.

John said: “We’re tremendously keen to use local produce wherever possible and in seeking to create the most well-provisioned breakfast-table, we turned to Turnbull’s Butchers, as we know they use only the best ingredients.”

Mark Turnbull said: “We were delighted to help out. Our skilled butchers love to be challenged in this way and they rose to it and created a breakfast sausage that’s unique to Newton Hall.

“It’s a special variation of our multi award-winning traditional pork sausage, which most recently was runner-up in the national final of the Butchers Q Guild 2016 BBQ Competition after first being crowned champion sausage in the north-east regional heat.

“What’s different about the Newton Hall recipe? That’s a closely guarded secret.

“Let’s just say it’s a special breakfast banger with added bite!”

Turnbull’s has also provided a number of personalised chefs’ jackets for the kitchen brigade at Newton Hall.

Mark is national chairman of the Q Guild, which represents more than 100 award-winning independent butchers across the UK.
