The committee of a popular village show has had to break with tradition and change this year's date, due to '˜unforeseen circumstances'.

The Bamburgh Village Show has, for many years, been held on the second Saturday in September, but the 2016 event will instead take place on Sunday, September 11.

A spokeswoman said: “The break with tradition is very unfortunate, but unavoidable.

“The show has been held on the same date for the past 80 years. We intend to return to the original show date, the second Saturday in September, in the future as it was held on this date to commemorate the original Bamburgh Feast.”

The schedule can be downloaded from www.bamburgh.org.uk or collected from Bamburgh Pavilion, between 10am and noon on March 29, when potatoes and buckets will be distributed for the Potato in a Bucket contest.
