Boy airlifted to hospital after Otterburn training accident

A teenager has been airlifted to hospital after sustaining a leg injury at the Otterburn Training Area.

The Great North Air Ambulance (GNAAS) service was called to the scene, where the 13-year-old from the Hexham area had been training in woods, at around 3pm yesterday (Thursday, August 4).

He was treated on scene by the GNAAS paramedic and doctor before being flown to Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital in Cramlington for ongoing treatment.

The helicopter took 10 minutes to reach the hospital from the scene and the boy arrived in a stable condition with non-life-threatening injuries.
