A poster featuring Mayor of London Boris Johnson that was put up outside the Conservatives’ office in Alnwick has been defaced for the second time.
Boris was in the Berwick constituency earlier this month to add his voice to the Dual the A1 campaign and had signed a banner at the side of the road at Causey Park, pledging his support.
The banner had been placed outside the Conservative office in Bondgate Without, Alnwick, the day after his visit and that night, the vandals struck, scrawling an offensive message on it. Anne-Marie Trevelyan, Conservative parliamentary candidate for Berwick-upon-Tweed described it as ‘extremely disappointing that someone or a group of individuals decided to trespass on to our office grounds and deface our private property’.
The poster was cleaned and remained in position near to the Bondgate Tower, but was defaced again last night as someone drew over Mr Johnson’s face and scrawled ‘Empty pre-electoral promises’. This too has now been cleaned from the banner.
