Police are appealing for witnesses following a bogus caller incident in Alnwick.
Between 1.30pm and 2.30pm yesterday, two men called at an address at Fullers Walk, claiming to be conducting a security check.
While inside the house, one man spoke with the occupant in the kitchen. Meanwhile, it is believed the other man entered the bedroom and stole a number of items including a sum of cash from the occupant's purse.
Officers are carrying out inquiries into the incident and are appealing for any witnesses and anyone who may have been visited by the men to get in contact.
The appeal comes as Northumbria Police continues to carry out Operation Strongbow, aimed at targeting bogus callers. As part of the campaign, police are reminding residents to be on their guard to anyone who calls at their door unannounced.
Any witnesses are urged to contact Northumbria Police on 101 ext 69191 quoting reference 0729 30/11/15 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
