Craster WI met in the Memorial Hall at 7.15pm, as always the meeting began by singing Jerusalem.

Committee notes included fund-raising teas at the home of Helen, to take the form of teas in her garden. Members to bake for the occasion.

Teas in the harbour will be on July 19, which is the day of the coastal run.

Stuart Walton gave a talk about blues music. He started along Route 66, starting with Negro spiritual cotton pickers and on to St Louis and BB King. He also talked about rhythm and blues, skiffle, the 1960s, Alan Price, Ray Davis and Eric Clapton, from boogie-woogie to rock and roll.

Jean gave the vote of thanks. A buffet supper followed.

The competition was anything beginning with H. The winners were: 1 M Hewitson; 2 Nancy Grey; 3 Pauline Brown. The raffle a begonia plant was won by Patricia Jones.

Our next meeting is on July 22.
