A NORTH Northumberland parish church is holding a flower festival to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee this summer.
Entitled 60 Glorious Years, the theme of the floral arrangements at St Mary’s in Belford is Palaces and Places which will commemorate the journeys of the Queen throughout her reign.
The Duchess of Northumberland will open the festival at 10.30am on Saturday, June 2.
Visitors to the festival will be able to browse the 20 floral arrangements to the sound of the organ playing and a programme of music by local musicians.
This is a true village event with local businesses sponsoring the floral arrangements and villagers acting as hosts in the church and baking for the refreshments which will be available continuously throughout the weekend.
There is an added attraction on the Saturday evening at 7pm when choir Village Voices will entertain the audience to a programme of light music. Entry is £5 which will include wine and cheese
Building on the huge success of last year, when many favourable comments were made about the quality of the arrangements this festival is shaping up to be an event not to be missed.
The festival will be open from 10.30am to 4pm on Saturday, June 2, 10am to 4pm on Sunday and Monday, June 3 and 4, and 10am to 1.30pm on Tuesday, June 5, when the flower auction will take place.
