Blooming brilliant gardens are honoured at prize-giving bash

Green-fingered residents and businesses, as well as people who give much to the community, were honoured at the recent Amble Town Council Awards.

The ceremony took place last month, with garden and civic awards presented.

The overall winner of the Amble Garden Cup was Joanie Mack, of 9 Marine Road.

Garden award results: Community and Business Award: Winner – St Cuthbert’s Church, Church Street; Runner up – Links School Sculpture Trail.

Central Ward: Winner – 9 Marine Road; Runner up – 5 Lindisfarne Road. East Ward: Winner – 19 Coquetdale; Runner-up – 16 Bamburgh Close. West Ward: Winner – 156 Gloster Park; Runner up – 17 Gloster Park. Overall Amble Garden Winner of the Cup 2018 – 9 Marine Road.

Best Allotment: West Ward – 15, Mr D Shepherd. East Ward: 20, Mr and Mrs Caven-Gomez. Most-improved: East 164, Ms D Simpson.

The Secret Garden winner was 19 Ivy Street, while the runner up was 5 Leslie Drive. The secret garden will be open to the public for viewing on Saturday, August 11, from 1pm to 4pm.

Meanwhile, the Junior Civic Award went to The Interact Club of Coquet and Aln (Warkworth Branch), while the Adult Civic Award went to Mary Davison.
