PARENTS are being urged not to buy potentially dangerous ‘bling dummies’ for their young children.
Northumberland County Council’s Trading Standards officers were alerted by colleagues in another part of the country to the potential safety risks of dummies decorated with beads and gems, after tests found that they failed the relevant safety standards.
The hand-glued beads and gems have been found to be easily detached, posing a real danger as they could easily choke a baby or small child. Trading Standards officers have discovered a number of these on sale in Northumberland and are appealing to traders to remove any from sale.
Investigations are continuing into the source of these toys and wherever they find the dummies they will be seized.
