Birthday fun for Navy war veteran

Norman Rennie who enjoyed a Naval-themed party at Hartford Court Care Home for his 94th birthday.

Staff at HC-One’s Hartford Court Care Home, in Cramlington, made sure it was a birthday to remember for Norman Rennie.

As the 94-year-old enjoys reminiscing about his time and adventures in the Royal Navy, they invited a fellow sailor along to visit Norman.

The sailor turned up in full uniform, presenting him with a card, presents, a Royal Navy cap tally, and a Navy key ring and pen while also inviting Norman to visit the ship that is docked on the Tyne.

Norman said: “I was filled with joy to receive a visit from a fellow sailor and couldn’t believe it when he presented me with these amazing presents.”

Hartford Court’s home manager, Blessing Giwa said: “Norman is an amazing man who contributed to the liberties that we all enjoy this post war era.”

“We are so glad that his 94th birthday was one to remember.”
