The owner of an Alnwick pub has applied for listed building consent to make alterations which will enable him to offer accommodation on the second floor.

The bid is for Ye Olde Cross, on Narrowgate, now trading as The Dirty Bottles Smokehouse and Taproom since being taken over by Mark Jones earlier this year.

The application is for various minor internal alterations including the provision of lightweight stud partitions to form new en-suites into the existing upper-floor rooms.

Also, existing lightweight stud partitions are proposed to be stripped out or altered to improve the internal layout while kitchen units and bathrooms are also proposed to be removed.

A design statement concludes that it would have a negligible impact on the character of the grade II-listed building.
