THE number of affordable homes in a proposed housing development in Alnwick may be reduced to allow it to go ahead.
In August 2010, permission was granted to Northumberland Estates to construct 76 homes at Wiiloughby’s Bank.
A section 106 agreement required that 41 of the units would be affordable homes.
Now an application has been made to reduce this to 27, due to the ‘different economic climate’.
The change is recommended for approval at the next meeting of Northumberland County Council’s area planning committee north, which takes place on Thursday.
