VIP Brewery, based at Hawkhill, is a microbrewery, established in 2011 by young businessman Phil Bell, who took Mrs Trevelyan on a tour of the operation. Despite being a small set-up, the brewery produces 10,000 bottles of beer and 2,000 casks each year.

Mrs Trevelyan said: "It was really inspirational to meet such a young entrepreneur in Phil and to sample some of the incredible flavoured beers they brew. Brewing has historically been part of Alnwick's heritage, so it is fantastic to see that the town is once-again producing award-winning beers."
