The Belford Hidden History group paid a visit to the King’s Own Scottish Borderers’ museum on Wednesday. This trip was funded by a Heritage Lottery Fund grant.
They were given a tour by archivist Ian Martin and had a look into the museum’s archives.
The group thoroughly enjoyed the visit and were given a surprise when they were shown the museum’s latest donation, only received that morning. It was a letter announcing that the official First World War ceasefire would be at 11am, on November 11.
BHH has also had a book published of the letters from the soldiers of the First World War from the Borders and the North East, which is available from sources in Belford.
