Beauty salon gets a £50,000 makeover

Newcastle College beauty lecturer Judy Mahoney has invested £50,000 in the property in Lansdowne Road, Forest Hall, to open The Salon – a hair and beauty emporium featuring two therapy rooms, two nail stations, a dedicated pedicure area and six hair stations.

Judy said: “I’m delighted with the salon. We only opened on January 4 but the interest has been incredible.

“Many suburbs have independent, niche salons so it’s wonderful that Forest Hall now has one to call its own.”

International, award winning Newcastle-based interior designers, George Bond Design, oversaw the design of the salon.

Raymond Watkin, of George Bond Design, said: “Commercial interior projects such as The Salon, allows us to run a little more freely compared to a private home project. We’ve used a stunning internal water feature in the waiting area which clients are constantly commenting on.”

Former TV presenter and Northern Design Awards head judge George Bond added: “When Judy first invited us to the property, we could see the huge potential.

“Because of its first floor, corner position, we decided on a white and pale grey theme with an injections of black and red.

“The whole area flows perfectly, providing a truly relaxing feel, allowing The Salon’s clients to enjoy their experience.”

The Salon aim to have eight members of staff by summer 2016, a combination of beauty therapists and hairdressers.

The official opening is being held on February 5, by HRH Princess Katarina and Katie Cutler, from the Katie Cutler Foundation.
