Nearly £400 has been raised for an Alnwick school by a village panto.
Warkworth Drama Group’s very successful production of Jack and the Beanstalk included a raffle in aid of Barndale House Special School.
Receiving the £395.60 on behalf of staff and pupils, school head teacher Colin Bradshaw said: “ I would like to thank everyone at Warkworth Drama Group for their very kind donation. It will enable our young people to experience a valuable life opportunity through attendance of a drama performance.”
The donation follows a tradition built over many years by the group to give raffle proceeds to worthy local causes and facilities.
Antonia Hoskins and Gary Brown, who produced and directed the panto, said: “We’re delighted the raffle raised such a fantastic amount for Barndale.
“The panto attracted new members, young and old, to the group and we have had some lovely feedback from people who came to see the performances.
“We are now looking forward to organising drama workshops in the summer, and we are already planning our next pantomime which will take place in December.”
