At January’s meeting, Beadnell WI’s president Pat Brand was delighted to report on December’s most enjoyable Christmas party, where members had celebrated in style.
A choice of casseroles and mixed vegetables, followed by sumptuous deserts, had been prepared by the committee and other members. The hall and tables were festively decorated and Santa’s sack had provided many pleasant surprises. Thanks were given to all who had contributed to such a lovely evening.
We welcomed in 2015 with its challenges and experiences to come: Working towards a replacement hall, information about courses available to us and social occasions to attend.
Members were reminded about the luncheon club meal at the Beadnell Towers Hotel and a dinner with guests on January 21 at the Craster Arms.
Catherine and Jan talked us through the new social calendar. Nancy reminded us that next month’s talk from Coun Pat Scott required competition entries based on something with a political‘feel’.
To round off our evening, Brenda and Fred Tinker gave us a bingo session, with funny comments and many interesting prizes toencourage us on our way.
The evening’s competition for a recycled object was won by Lynne Angus with a small barrel made from wood from the former Amble pier. Kathleen Dixon and Sue Dawson were runners-up.
